A New Arrival

Thanksgiving week was a long, busy week!  Hayden's due date was on Tuesday that week, but unfortunately I wasn't feeling like it was time yet.  So we spent the whole day out of the house playing!  We got our Thanksgiving dinner shopping done, and then went to play over at Grandma and Grandpa Hansen's hotel for the afternoon.  They had brought a huge box for Kylie to play in, and she just loved hiding in it.  (She has a blue mouth from the candy she was eating...)

When Brandon was done working we all went to the new Children's museum that just opened.  It was a fun hands-on museum that Kylie got to run around in and play with everything.  It was perfect for her and something we will be visiting again and again!

We enjoyed a great Thanksgiving with my family on Thursday, and then on Friday Grandma Shari arrived for the weekend, along with Aunt Kelsey, Aunt Chantel, and soon-to-be-Uncle McKay.  Kylie was super ecstatic.  She had been enjoying bouncing off Grandma Tess and Uncle Tommy all week, and now there were even more people to play with her!!  She really loves when people visit.  That night we all got together to go swimming.  Kylie got passed around to everyone in the water and even enjoyed going down the slide several times.

Now that everyone was down here visiting us, I was super bummed that Hayden hadn't arrived yet.  Most of our family down to meet the new baby and there was no baby to meet!  Luckily Friday night things started to get a move on.  Well, technically Saturday morning.  I woke up at 1.40 AM and thought 'It's starting!', but after a whole week of hoping every little contraction was the beginning of labor, I basically talked myself out of it and went back to sleep for two hours.  At 3.40 AM I woke again and now I was certain this baby was coming!  Brandon ran around like crazy, calling Grandma Tess to come pick up Kylie, calling the midwife to come over, and blowing up the birth tub.  At 5.28 AM little Hayden finally came into the world and we were so overjoyed that he was finally here, healthy, and that everyone would be able to meet him before they left on Sunday.  He arrived just barely on time!

The rest of Saturday I spent in bed with Hayden, but everyone came to see him and visit!  I especially liked seeing Kylie's reaction to her new baby brother.  She was excited and curious about him, and even later that day rocked him in his cradle and sang him a song.  She also loves to give him kisses.

Grandpa Pete caught some cute hours-old pictures of Hayden and Kylie:

I'm so happy Hayden came and everyone was able to meet him before they left on Sunday!  It was also very nice to have all this help with Kylie all week long.
