Meeting Aunt Kendra!

Our week started slow with our usual walks and crafts.

There was an instance where Kylie got stuck in a bucket.  She thought it was funny till she realized I was taking pictures of her and then she got mad.

Thursday Grandma Shari, Aunt Kendra and Uncle Jordan arrived!  The kids were so excited to have visitors and this was Aunt Kendra's first time meeting Hayden.  She just got back from her mission to Italy.

Friday all day Brandon and Uncle Jordan were at Code Camp (a 24 hour coding event) so that afternoon we went to go see them for a few minutes before heading off to the children's museum.

The kids loved the museum and had so much fun exploring every room.

Saturday was another fun-filled day with Grandma Shari and Aunt Kendra while Uncle Jordan and Brandon slept off their 24 hour coding event.  We watched some movies and went hiking at the red rock where of course the most interesting thing was the dirt.

That evening Grandma Shari gave Hayden some early birthday gifts which he loved (if he was able to play with them since Kylie kept taking them!) and then went out to dinner.

We loved having visitors over for the weekend and wish we got to see more of family!

Playmates

It's so fun to watch Hayden and Kylie play together.  Of course, there is already plenty of teasing and fighting between them, but when they actually have fun together is the best!

Not much has happened this week.  Kylie finally figured out that her name is "Kylie" and she likes to point to herself and say "I Kylie!"

We are still taking our afternoon walks, and Hayden likes to walk so much on our walks that I have stopped taking the stroller altogether.  Yes, that means by the end of the walk I am carrying both Hayden and Kylie's trike, but it's better than putting him in and out of the stroller every ten seconds.  Now I remember the days when I would walk to the mailbox with Kylie and it would take an hour, and now it only takes her 3 minutes.  Hayden is so fascinated by everything and can play on our little street for an hour and never be bored.

One day we spent over a half hour at this berry bush just picking off the berries and squishing them.  Kylie loved it.  Hayden kept trying to eat them.

Other than that I can't think of anything interesting that happened!!  Just our day to day life!

Let's Take a Walk

On Sunday we had lots of fun Skyping with Uncle McKay and Aunt Chantel and Uncle Jordan.  Kylie really likes talking to people now, and it is so fun watching her try to interact with them when we have them on the tv screen.  While we were skyping with them Brandon decided to give Hayden a Warhead.  Obviously he didn't like it - but he didn't cry like I was expecting him to.

Monday to shake things up a bit I brought the kiddie pool inside and we filled it with a bunch of blankets and stuffed animals and played in it.  The kids loved it!  My secret intention was to get Kylie to cuddle in it and watch a movie and take a nap, but that didn't happen.

Well, most of our fun this week  happened outside.  The weather is just gorgeous down here and we love taking afternoon walks!  Wednesday I let Kylie lead the walk and it was a little too long for her so she had to double up with Hayden in the stroller on the way home.  Hayden absolutely loved it and liked to lay all over Kylie.

Hayden likes to walk on our walks a lot now, so sometimes it is pretty slow going.  And he always likes to walk the opposite way than what we are going.  I loved it one time when Hayden was trying to get into the trike's bucket while Kylie was riding really slowly and just zoning.  He was so determined to open it up and Kylie had no clue until I said something and then she zipped up the street super fast to stop him.  I laughed so hard!

We also always like to stop and play in the water fountain on our walks.  In fact, if I try to avoid it Kylie freaks out because it is always part of our routine.  Luckily it is still warm enough that I don't mind them coming home sopping wet.

We also like to have dance parties.  Hayden likes to carry my phone around as it plays music and they both dance!  It is so cute to watch.

I think Kylie has finally learned her name!  This week she has been pointing to her self and saying "Kylie", and pointing to me and saying either "Mommy" or "Becca".  Yay!!  When she isn't pretending to be a cat or dog or copycatting everything Hayden is doing and saying, then she actually uses her words a lot.  Her favorites are "mine" and "I want".  Of course :)

Happy Halloween!

What a fun and busy week we have had!  Hayden is a pro at walking and just loves following Kylie around.  They can run in circles and laugh and giggle forever.  It is so cute to see them playing together!

This week Hayden has learned to walk in his shoes fairly well.  He did fall down once pretty hard on his head on the pavement, but he is a trooper and bounced back quickly.

Whenever we are outside in the front area he always likes to go see if our neighbor's dog Shasta is outside.  Hayden loves dogs just as much as Kylie does!

Kylie also got hurt this week. She was playing on the water fountain in our neighborhood and fell and scraped her leg up.  Poor thing!  She still won't let me take off the bandages and it has been like four days...

On Thursday Hayden turned 11 months!!  It's so exciting and I can't believe his birthday is right around the corner!

On Friday it was Halloween!  Sadly, Brandon was stuck working so he missed out on the pumpkin carving.  Both the kids had fun and Kylie was a great helper.  Hayden didn't eat any of the pumpkin goop, but he kept touching it and making an awful face!

Brandon was able to come home early for the carnival, though!  Unfortunately, by then Kylie was in a super bad mood.  She was all excited to wear her Princess Anna dress and I thought, since I really didn't have a costume, I'd wear the cat ears and I painted some whiskers on my face.  Big mistake.  As we all know, Kylie has been acting like a cat or dog for the past month, and she went into hysterics when I was going to be a cat and she wasn't.  So I washed my face and didn't dress up.

So by the time we got to the carnival Kylie didn't want to do any of the activities, but she warmed up around dinner.  Kylie made a cute Princess Anna and Hayden was super cute as Olaf and he kept his "hair" on great, but he did rip off all his black poofs on his shirt.

Kylie really got the trick or treating thing this year!  It was hard to get her to speak up and say "trick or treat" and "thank you", but she loved racing from car to car getting candy.  Hayden also loved it and afterwards he was walking around the parking lot and everyone kept giving him more candy because he was so cute!

Saturday morning I was in for a surprise when Kylie got up for the day.  Apparently some markers were in her room and she remembered how I drew whiskers on myself for Halloween.  So she drew on her face (and the whiskers were pretty good!), as well as completely covering her hands and feet.  Lovely.  She was super cute about it, though.  First thing she said was "Good morning Mommy! I kitty!"  It was too funny to get super mad about.  I managed to get most of the color off her face and hands, but her feet are still pretty green.
