Our Week

Sunday

We caught a lizard on our walk;
At holding it Kylie did balk.
(Excited was Hayden,
Though shy as a maiden)
Then she held it to my great shock!

Monday

A pineapple can fell from on high.
It smashed Hayden's foot and made him cry.
His toe turned all blue,
So what did I do?
Cuddled him close; wiped his tears all dry.  :(

Tuesday

The pantry has become just like a candy store;
Kylie and Hayden going back for more.
Something had to be done,
So away went their fun -
Thus Hayden cried in front of the locked pantry door.

Wednesday

As our summer comes to an end,
On swimming I've come to depend.
But now we can play
Outside all the day,
Though the winter I apprehend...

Thursday

Kylie's new favorite thing is to draw
"I love it!" I exclaim, "Oh, la la!"
She then signs her name
It's like a fun game
We are one super proud Ma and Pa!

Friday

We decided to do something new as a treat.
Bowling was fun! The kids thought it was really neat!
They were so excited
And very delighted
And since they were little we allowed them to cheat ;)

Saturday

A party for Sophia's birthday
Was celebrated with lots of play!
There was not one grump
At the House of Jump;
Then came the cake and presents.  Hooray!

Getting in Some Friend Time

With Kylie in Preschool I feel like my days are completely filled.  Mornings are just a countdown to school, and then after school it's snack time, playtime, dinner time and then bedtime.  The days have just been going by too quick!

Kylie just loves school though.  Luckily she was well enough to go on Monday after she had been sick all weekend.  They started computers this week and one day they even made a pizza!  Kylie likes to write her name on everything now and I can tell she has more concentration for an activity instead of being done with something in two minutes.

Hayden is loving life.  We got him new shoes and he likes to spend forever trying to put them on and figuring out the velcro straps.  He also says 'No' now to everything, as well as 'Hey' (in a singsong voice).

On Friday we had a fun filled day.  Since Kylie doesn't have school that day, and her friend Kennedy gets out early that day, we usually try to do something together with them.  This Friday we went to the park and played on the playground and water.  Only this time Kylie and Hayden weren't so interested in getting all wet but playing with Kennedy and Acadia's bikes and scooters.  Thankfully they brought enough to share so there wasn't much fighting (except over the pink ones...)

After a fun-filled morning at the park we went home and had lunch and then Sophia came over!  Kylie and Sophia played all afternoon while Hayden slept.  They were both good little helpers and helped Angela and me make decorations for Sophia's party next week.  Then, when they started fighting too much ( Those two can fight like it's the end of the world!) we gave them some scissors and pictures to cut out and they were seriously quiet for 45 minutes cutting out things.  It was so nice!

Then later that evening we went grocery shopping with Brandon.  It was a late night for the kids and a busy day!

Saturday wasn't so bad; we didn't do as much.  The only thing worth mentioning was going swimming in the evening.  Both Kylie and Hayden were so happy to be out of the house and swimming, which we haven't done since Labor Day! (The river last week doesn't count).

Today we got to go back to our ward finally (Labor Day weekend and then sick kids last week... it's been a while!) and Kylie was so excited to go to Primary.  Even Hayden was happy going to Nursery, something that hasn't happened before! Yay!

Playin' in the River

We had a successful second week of Preschool for Kylie this week!  She still loves it and still wants to go back, so that is good.  In fact, all day Saturday Kylie kept asking to go to school.  She can write her name fairly well now, as well as she is getting better control of writing and can legibly write most letters and numbers, though not off the top of her head.

On Friday we finally got together with some friends.  Kylie was very excited to be able to play with Kennedy and Acadia down in the Virgin River.  It was a fun activity for everyone!  Well, except for me, because I got stung by a wasp on my heel.  It still hurts.  Thankfully it was me who got stung and not anyone else!

Kylie and Kennedy especially loved the sinkholes, huge holes up to their hips hiding in a few inches of murky water.  And the water was super murky!!  But that didn't stop the kids from diving in and having fun!

Saturday was a rough day.  Kylie woke up with an earache, so we spent the day inside and built forts and watched movies.  She did have a rough night as well on Saturday night, but this morning, while she is still acting sick, at least she isn't complaining of an earache.  That is good news!  So we are going to have another lazy day inside and make sure Kylie gets all better.

Oh, and this week Hayden learned how to say banana!  'Nana'! It's so cute to hear him talk!

Labor Day Weekend

Thursday night Brandon and I spontaneously decided to head up north for the long holiday weekend.  Luckily our families were willing to deal with us on such late notice.  :)  Also, I figured with Kylie in school now we had to take advantage of these school holidays!

Brandon had to work Friday morning, so we didn't get out of town until late afternoon.  The kids were acting good for most of the way up, so we didn't stop at all!  That was a first!  When we arrived at Grandma and Grandpa Knudsen's we were in for a surprise: unbeknownst to us Kylie was having fun with markers... all over the window, car seat, and herself.  She was covered head to toe!  Needless to say she is banned from markers for awhile...

The kids were so happy to see Grandma and Grandpa Knudsen and run around outside without burning to a little crisp.  My basic goal for this vacation was to let them be outside for as long as possible while we were up visiting!

Saturday was a busy day.  It started off with going to the Natural Curiosity Museum at Thanksgiving Point.  The kids had been several times, but this was Brandon's first time.  Aunt Chantel and Uncle Dallan also came with us and it was their first times too!

After the museum we had a yummy lunch at JCW's (my favorite!) and then back home for Hayden's nap.  While Hayden was napping Brandon worked on the mini motorcycle while Kylie ran around outside and gave a commentary of what Brandon was doing.  When he got it working he was excited to take Kylie on a ride, but Kylie didn't like how loud it was so she was very upset when Brandon tried to get her on the bike.  When Hayden woke up he was so excited for the motorcycle ride!

After seeing Hayden having fun, Kylie decided that it was her turn for a ride!

That evening Brandon and I got a date night while Grandma Shari took the kids to the park to feed the ducks.

On Sunday we went to church (where the kids were fairly good), and afterwards we had lots of family time.  Kylie and Hayden of course played outside all day, and for dinner Uncle Dallan, Aunt Kendra, and Great Grandparents Naylor joined us!  It was lots of fun.

On Monday we went to visit Grandma and Grandpa Hansen.  Once again we played all morning outside!  Yay!  After a super yummy BBQ lunch we went swimming.  Well, more like Grandma Tess took Kylie and Hayden swimming!  Instead of a hot tub at their pool they have a little mini kids pool that Hayden just loved.  So I followed him around and Grandma Tess and Kylie swam in the big pool.  Grandma Tess taught Kylie how to swim breast stroke!  Though every time I tried to get a video she wouldn't do it...

Kylie and Grandma Tess swam for a long time after Hayden got out, but eventually I had to fish them out of the pool because it was time for the long drive back home.  We really enjoyed our quick visit and thanks to all the family that visited with us!!  Also thanks to Grandma Shari and Grandpa Pete for the pictures!!  Can't wait until we see everyone again!

The Start of Preschool!

On Monday Kylie started Preschool and she was so excited!!

We even did an hourly count down because she was asking every few minutes if it was time for school.  I can't believe the day has finally come that Kylie is in Preschool!  I have been looking forward to it for a long time, and I know that she will do well because she loves to be with kids her own age and loves learning!

Her class is in the afternoons, Monday through Thursday, and it is the perfect time because it is the same time as Hayden's nap!  When we dropped her off she was so happy and excited, and only got concerned when another kid threw a blood curdling tantrum when he realized that his mom wasn't coming with him.  But we smiled and waved as she walked to class and she had no problem!

All week long she has loved school and is always excited to go.  She is learning her colors right now (more of a review, really), and how to write her name.  She almost has it down; she always forgets the 'e' at the end.

Since her Preschool is in the afternoon, we still get to do all our normal morning activities: going to the park, story time at the library, and even swimming!  It does make it a little hard to get together with friends, though.  Kylie has been constantly asking to play with her friends and we just can't find a good time!  We will have to fix that!

Hayden has also been working hard on learning new things! Like opening doors, figuring out how to clasp his car seat, and saying 'goldfish', 'thank you', and 'octonauts'  (That last one is a show the kids like to watch).  He is also doing well with a fixed nap time during Kylie's school time.  I always have to wake him up to go pick her up, so he does loose about an hour of sleep, but he is always happy when i wake him!
